Microsoft is already offering a generative AI certification program

Microsoft has announced a new program to train workers on generative AI. The initiative, part of the Skills for Jobs program, will provide free coursework through LinkedIn, including certification. The courses will cover introductory AI concepts and “responsible AI frameworks,” offering learners tips for effective content creation and a chance to keep pace with the rapidly changing world. The program will initially launch in English and will add more languages in the coming months. Microsoft is also launching a trainer toolkit for educators and a separate AI course for teachers and trainers.

In addition, Microsoft has introduced an open grant program called Generative AI Skills Grant Challenge. The program aims to empower historically marginalized populations by exploring ways nonprofits, social enterprises, research, or academic institutions can train and empower the workforce to use generative AI. Grant recipients will receive financial support, group learning opportunities, data training, guidance, and access to Microsoft events and cloud-computing resources. Applications for the grant program are now open until August 15th.
